Is it right to say that all the profits will go to a good cause when chances are good that it will be a long time, if ever, before any funds will go to the charity?

This is a reasonable question, because it can be deceiving if not conceived and handled properly. The following must be done to assure integrity:

  1. The commitment must be made up front with your home church as a full partner.
  2. An immediate giving effort ($1.00/CD) must be a part to discipline the commitment from the beginning.
  3. It must be made clear to audiences that only net profits will be donated and it would be best to tell the audience where you are in accomplishing that.

The charity initially benefits not so much by additional funding, but by increased exposure, which, coupled with the commitment by a large number of artists, will ultimately yield a harvest for the sake of so many in need.

Every artist hopes on some level that their CD project will be profitable. This project requires a commitment that is big enough to make their first project a giving rather than a getting project.
