    1. What’s in this for the organizers of First Fruit Music Project?

First, the organizers came face-to-face with the reality of what unchecked self promotion in the music industry looks like - it’s not pretty and it’s no wonder that the industry is unhealthy on so many levels. We truly believe this to be a win-win project that will teach a new generation of artists the virtues of giving first.

The site will feature First Fruit Music Project stickers for your CDs along with other items in the future to help fund the site and promote your efforts.

    2. What arrangement should I make with my local church partner?

The most logical may be to simply determine the number of CDs you need to sell to recover your costs. Just total up recording, production, mastering, duplication and shipping costs, then divide by individual CD cost minus the per CD contribution for this project along with other sales costs (distributor, credit card, etc.). Report the resulting number of cds that need to be sold to your home church partner. Then give an accounting (along with your per CD contribution) every one to three months.

    3. How does this program work when my local church funds the CD, then we distribute CDs for free or a reduced price as an outreach?

CDs produced under this kind of arrangement shouldn’t be considered for this project, because the artist is essentially being contracted by their church. It is a worthy cause, but not the giving effort by the artist for which this project was designed.

    4. Does being registered with First Fruit Music Project cost anything?

Absolutely Not! We want your funds to go to the best CD you can produce, or better, to African AIDS relief.

    5. I’ve already made a commercial CD. Can I make my next recording a First Fruit Music Project CD.

The First Fruit Music Project is expressively designed to assist new artists in the finer art of giving first and thinking about themselves second. It’s too late for you! Seriously, this is a one-time only opportunity reserved for those just beginning their recording adventures.

    6. How do I contact other First Fruit Music Project artists?

Just send an email to dlange57@yahoo.com with the name of the artist and the nature of your inquiry. That artist or the site organizer will contact you.

    7. How good, or what style of music, does my CD need to be?

First Fruit Music Project artists have in common a giving project. There are no plans to create a forum for musical showcasing or promotion. There are plenty of other ways to display your music. This means that First Fruit Music Project can be for first-time recording artists of all styles and all levels of ability, though we urge all to multiply their talent and seek wise counsel in the recording investments they make.

    8. Is it right to say that all the profits will go to a good cause when chances are good that it will be a long time, if ever, before those funds will go to the charity?

Obviously, a per CD giving requirement is necessary to not only show commitment, but to make your message of giving real. This is a very important ethical question that deserves an extended answer. First Fruit Music Project supports only the highest ethical practice.
